The Seedbed platform
Everything a community growing project runs on, made intelligent.
Seedbed brings crop planning, people, produce and impact reporting together in one secure platform, with practical AI that saves hours every week.
Six modules, one connected platform.
Start with the module you need most. Everything shares the same data, so each one gets smarter as you add the next.
Grow Planner
AI-assisted crop planning for mixed, small-scale and organic growing. Rotations, sowing and harvest calendars, and weather-aware task lists for every bed, tunnel and orchard row.
- Rotation and succession plans generated from your beds and goals
- Daily task lists that adapt to local weather and soil conditions
- Bed-by-bed history: what was grown, what worked, what didn’t
People & Volunteers
Scheduling built for mixed teams of staff, volunteers and supported participants. Match people to suitable activities by interest, ability, access needs and support required.
- Rotas, sign-ups and reminders by email or text
- Activity matching that respects individual support plans
- Attendance and hours recorded in seconds, not spreadsheets
Impact Studio
Turn everyday records into clear evidence for funders, trustees and commissioners. Impact Studio drafts outcome reports and case narratives for you to review and approve.
- Outcome dashboards across attendance, wellbeing and skills
- Draft funder reports written from your own data
- Supports the wellbeing and social value frameworks you already use
Produce & Veg Bags
Demand forecasting for veg bag schemes, cafés and market stalls. Plan what to grow against what people will actually buy, and cut waste at harvest.
- Weekly demand forecasts from orders, seasons and weather
- Harvest-to-order matching and packing lists
- Surplus alerts so food reaches people, not compost
Field Assistant
A secure AI assistant that answers questions from your own policies, growing notes and risk assessments, and helps draft grant applications, newsletters and updates.
- Answers grounded in your documents, with sources shown
- Plain English and Easy Read rewriting for accessible communication
- First drafts of bids, reports and social posts in your voice
Plant & Pest ID
Point a phone at a leaf, pest or problem patch. Computer vision identifies what it sees and suggests organic, low-intervention responses.
- Identification of common crops, weeds, pests and diseases
- Organic treatment suggestions with links to trusted guidance
- Every sighting logged to the bed it came from
Under the hood
Modern, cloud-native and built to scale.
Seedbed is a multi-tenant software platform engineered for reliability, security and low running costs, so it stays affordable for organisations of every size.
Cloud-native & serverless
Event-driven services that scale automatically with demand, from a single allotment society to a national network, and scale down when it’s quiet.
Grounded generative AI
Large language models with retrieval over your own documents and records, so answers are specific to your organisation and always show their sources.
Machine learning forecasts
Forecasting models trained on growing, weather and order patterns to predict yields, demand and staffing needs.
Computer vision
Image models for plant, pest and disease identification, tuned for UK growing conditions and small-scale organic methods.
Mobile-first & offline-ready
A progressive web app that works on any phone, records activity without signal and syncs when you’re back in range.
Open APIs & integrations
Connect to email, calendars, accounting, online shops and form tools, or export everything in standard formats.
Security & data protection
Your data stays yours.
Community organisations hold sensitive information about the people they support. We treat it that way.
- UK GDPR by design, with data processing agreements for every customer
- UK and EU data residency for all customer data
- Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Strict tenant isolation: no organisation can see another’s data
- Role-based access and multi-factor sign-in, with granular permissions for sensitive records
- Audit logs of who accessed or changed what, and when
- Automated, encrypted backups with tested recovery
- No training on your data: customer data is never used to train shared AI models
Questions
Frequently asked.
Do we need technical staff to use Seedbed?
No. Seedbed is designed for coordinators, growers and volunteers, not IT departments. We handle set-up, data migration and training, and you can call on us whenever you need help.
How much does it cost?
Pricing reflects your organisation’s size and needs, with options for small volunteer-led groups. We start with a free, no-obligation discovery call and give you a clear proposal before anything is agreed.
Is our data used to train AI?
No. Your data is used only to provide the service to your organisation. It is never sold and never used to train shared AI models.
Do you only work in Essex?
Seedbed is delivered online to organisations anywhere in the UK. In-person workshops and training are available across the East of England and further afield by arrangement.
Can we try it first?
Yes. Our early access programme lets a small number of organisations use Seedbed and shape its roadmap. Get in touch to find out more.
